" Our trip was excellent. The room, with the upgrades, was amazing! We saw many eagles (bald and golden), one bear, many whales, including one breach, seals, one bear, one wolf, moose and carribou, and many smaller animals.. If we travelled during salmon run, we probably would have seen more bear and eagles. The scenery is to die for, the vistas spectacular. The ship was great; service, food, etc were all great. Thanks for everything. "

There's nothing else like it in the world, an Alaska cruise tour with Princess Cruises. From the incredible glaciers and charming Inside Passage towns of your voyage, to stays in dramatic Princess wilderness lodges at Denali National Park and beyond, it's certain to be the land-and-sea adventure you've always dreamed of. Click on the link below for information for the land portion of your cruise tour.

It's important to know when to book an Alaska Cruise or Cruise tour
We are often asked " Should I book Now ( rates are going up ) or should I Wait ( rates are going down )? The answer is not that straight forward. First, do you decide just based on price or if you would rather have your choice of ship, cabin, location onboard and sailing date or cruisetour? So, lets say you decide to wait for that last minute cruise or cruisetour deal. Last minute cruise deals do offer some great prices on select cruise sailings and cruisetour departures. In early August you can find some remaining bargains for the last few departures in September. However, if you wait too long, you may find the ship is sold out ( except for suites you cannot afford, or find what's available is over priced ). Or, you may have to pay more than you expected because those early booking deals you passed over are long gone.  Cruise lines adjust prices based on available unsold inventory. Price adjusts occur quite often, sometimes daily. so here's some advice based on an Alaska cruise or Cruise etour...
ALASKA
The Alaska sailing season is from May through September with peak sailing dates of July and August, priced the highest. Typically balcony cabins sell out 8 to 9 months in advance. Unlike the Caribbean in Winter, there are far fewer ships that sail Alaska in the Summer.
What books up early:
Balcony cabins and cruises combined with a land tour ( known as cruise tours ) Southbound cruises are more popular than Northbound sailings.
What's worth waiting:
Cruises from Seattle or Vancouver that offer Off peak sailings in May and September. These are priced lower than high season sailings.

"We just finished another incredible 14 day cruisetour itinerary for Alaska. Now I'm getting ready to help a couple decide which one of 68 cruisetours we offer. I've already heard exciting chatter about our guests seeing more of Alaska and really getting off the beaten path. Ask an Alaska visitor about his or her trip and you'll likely hear tales about the state's exotic and awe inspiring wildlife. Chances are, you'll be regaled with stories and photos of the encounters with Alaska's wildlife. And who can blame them? Pictures of Alaska's moose, bears, caribou, bald eagles, whales and dozens of other wild species can be a trip's best (and most memorable) souvenirs. For those who cruise Alaska by sea, there's the opportunity to spot the breathtaking breach of a humpback whale or soaring seabirds such as puffins, terns, gulls, eiders and many others. Learn more about wildlife viewing in Alaska

Did you know: Grizzly bears have been a threatened species since 1975 in the Lower 48 states?  Alaska however has over 32,000 grizzlies. Considering Alaska's population is only 670,000, that's 1 bear for every 21 people. Alaska is home to magnificent glaciers, giant halibut, hardy outdoorsmen.... and lots of moose.  Alaska has 39 mountain ranges.  Did you know? The larger ranges include: Alaska Range, which includes 20,320 foot Mt. McKinley, the continent's tallest peak , Aleutian Range, a volcano-ridden range on the Alaska Peninsula, Brooks Range, which is above the Arctic Circle; the Continental Divide runs through it and Boundary Ranges, along the Canadian border of the Inside Passage.

"Our May18th Coral Princess Copper River Alaska Cruise tour was great! Thanks for all your help, especially for getting us that bump-out balcony starboard room. We had warm sunny days for almost the entire trip. The whole Alaska itinerary and our excursions were perfect.  We had such a good cruise that we think it will be difficult to find another that we will enjoy as much as we did this one, but we decided to try anyway. Can you make some recommendations for us? Preferably something kind of adventurous." Thanks again.  John & Priscilla

Thanks for arranging our trip. It went very well. Everyone had a great time from the 5 year old to the 70 year olds... We saw whale, fish spawning, seals etc. Some did a zip line and loved that. We took the train and one family took the helicopter to the glacier. Each did their own thing. The glaciers were impressive. Holland America was very good. Each evening the stewards had a different animal out of towels, the food was good, resources fine.... We had good weather, rarely rained and we were generally the only ship in port most places, so it was not too crowded. The ship was so big we had to arrange to all meet in the evening or else we may never have seen each other! I had gotten us all the same t-shirt and we had our pictures taken in it.

Thanks again for the help. I certainly will recommend your company.

Well, it has been 6 weeks since our family Alaska adventure! What a wonderful trip. Everything from our flights/connections to every other facet of the trip itself went perfectly.  Your expertise and suggestions as well as all the arrangements and extensive follow up truly made this a trip of a  lifetime. We can never thank you enough!!

As you know, Jan and I had been to Alaska previously on an escorted tour and had some idea of what to expect.  However, with our idea of taking the entire family this time (10 people), we were a bit more concerned that everything was thought of ahead of time.  When I found your internet site while researching this trip, I certainly didn't expect a phone call that very night I requested info!
Your intimate knowledge of Alaska and suggestions regarding specifics such as the lodges, side trips, stateroom preference, etc, proved invaluable and really made this trip the best.  We will obviously (and have) recommended your organization to anyone wanting an excellent tour of Alaska.

Attached is a photo taken on the ship of our family. It should be obvious we are having a great time.

The highlight (in my mind, anyway ) of the trip was the zip line adventure in Juneau.  It was done in a rain forested island involving multiple stations and a great group of guides.  The most adventurous of us participated.  Another highlight was the excellent tour guide and the food. We were surprised at how good the food on the land portion of the trip was.  Now my son has to get our grandson to lose his taste for crab legs ( he ate them 3 nights in a row)

Again, thank you so much for arranging a great trip of a lifetime for our family!!!

Best Regards
Jan and Stan Decowski and Family

EXCLUSIVE Mini-Group Rates For as little as 6 guests, 3 cabins. Did you know the most overlooked way to stretch your dollar is to form your own Alaska cruise group. Traveling with family or friends,  can lower costs enough so you can travel even when the economy is not that good. Of course, most of us don't have the time - or inclination - to make the calls and do the research for an entire group. It's a big job.  However, booking a group cruise is easy for a travel agent ...your agent can create a package that works for you, while your group will realize across-the-board savings from group discounts that your agent discovers.

"I just wanted to let you know that we just got back from our Alaska trip....... It was Great! Took lots of pictures (which we haven't had time to look at yet), ate and ate and ate on the ship. I think it can be summed up by quoting the tour director..... "This is NOT a vacation, it IS an adventure" Thanks so much for the wonderful upscale restaurant dinner. The food and service was superb! All of us really enjoyed it! Thanks again, for all your help in coordinating our trip" --  Carter: mini-group party of 8

Featured Cruise Tour Article:

You don't want to miss Alaska's biggest attraction.

Denali National Park

When you plan your Alaskan vacation, do you plan to encounter a striking landscape, a place so expansive that it shelters more than six hundred-fifty species of flowering plants and thirty-seven mammal species?

Denali National Park

See Denali National Park, Mt. McKinley and the wildlife of Alaska.

Travel via scenic domed railcars; deluxe, restroom-equipped motor coaches; Overnight at deluxe “rustic” lodges; great wildlife and scenery only on an Alaska cruise tour can you experience all that Alaska has to offer. Denali National Park is located 240 miles north of Anchorage, and encompasses 6 million acres of forests, tundra, glaciers and mountains - that's larger than the entire state of Massachusetts. Yet only 90 miles of main road traverses the park, leaving the moose, caribou, sheep and bears free to roam a wide area of land untouched by man. Denali National Park has long been a place of refuge for those with the will to survive its rugged terrain. Indeed, only the strongest plants flourish in this world of sub-arctic wilderness. Species of mosses, lichens, fungi, algae, and others spangle the slopes and valleys of Denali. Deep pools of frost collect just beneath the park's surfaces, and only the thinnest sheen of topsoil thaws enough each year to stimulate new life. But the fragile nature of the region leads to continuous rebirth. New rivers can spurt up in days and flowers bloom just in time to serve as supper for hungry wildlife.

What's the best time of year to see Mt. McKinley and visit Denali National Park? Answer here?

Since in 1923 the Tundra Wilderness Tour takes travelers on a 7-8 hour excursion into the park with a certified driver-naturalist. The buses are newer but the scenery is virtually unchanged. The Tundra Wilderness Tour travels through Denali's best wildlife-viewing habitat to capture stunning Mt. McKinley views from Stony Hill, deep in the park.

Tundra Wilderness Tour Highlights:
- 7 – 9 hours in length, 54 miles one way into the park
- Great chance on spotting wildlife
- On a clear day, witness the granduer of Mt. McKinley
- Light snack and hot beverage provided
- Tour makes stops every 90-minutes for restroom breaks
- Bring your camera, extra film and binoculars
- Advanced reservations highly recommended

There are two general departure times for

the Tundra Wilderness Tour.

AM Tours generally depart between 5:20AM – 7:30AM.
PM Tours generally depart between 1:30PM and 3:00PM.

During the early and late seasons, due to Denali Park service guidelines, the Tundra Wilderness Tour may be substituted with a 5- to 6-hour Teklanika Tour

INSIDERS ALASKA

If you like your scenery on a spectacular scale, prepare to be amazed. The glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, forests and lakes are simply stunning and when you factor in the wildlife – brown bears and eagles, whales, sea otters and more – and all the great adventures you can have ashore, hey, it’s like nowhere else on earth.
